While conducting a field research for his feature project, Guo Shang-Sing takes a snap shot of a crime scene where seven people, including three teenagers and a pregnant woman, were shot dead by armed masked men looking for a drug suspect in Caloocan, Philippines.
Guo Shang-Sing speaks at National Pingtung University today. In the morning session, he speaks about his personal experiences and growth in filmmaking of the past “10 Years— Not a Dream”. “Merryland”, a play written by Piko Tseng and directed by Guo Shang-Sing, premieres in Guling Street Avant-Garde Theatre in Taipei. It is, among others, the best play selected in the 5th annual Reading for You Festival. Guo not only directs but also performs as the narrator throughout. Body Phase Studio and Guling Street Avant-Garde Theatre launch the 5th annual Reading for You Festival in Taipei. The Studio invites Guo Shang-Sing to direct “Merryland”, a play freshly written by Piko Tseng, which will premier on June 11th this year.
“West of Taiwan, East of Asia: a study of Asian Experimental Film”, a hardcover edited by Tony Chun-Hui Wu, is now published by Le Ganges Edition and available in limited bookstores. Guo Shang-Sing translates two academic articles from English to Chinese for the book.
